Gold Stocks + Portfolio Adjustments
Today I continued to build cash and gold stocks positions. I sold 85% of Genuine Parts (GPC) and 20% of Exxon Mobil (XOM). I also closed my smallest materials position. I added Newmont Mining (NEM) @ 51.6, Kaminak Gold (KMKGF) @ 1.99, and Metanor Resources (MEAOF) @ 0.23. These purchases brought my gold stock holdings up to 3% of my portfolio.
Metanor Resources recently received funding from Sandstorm Gold. The company has projects in Quebec and Ontario, and today it released interesting drill results from its Bachelor project. I’ll add them to my Sandstorm portfolio. Kaminak is a spec play; the company has been exploring in the Yukon and reporting promising drill results for a while. Newmont has a low valuation and a good dividend. I will add it to the portfolio of gold stocks I intend to hold for yield. With the addition of NEM, this portfolio now yields 2.73%: ABX (30.18%), NEM (18.90), AUY (11.84%), IAG (11.23%), EGO (8.88%), GGN (8.20%), AGIGF (6.86%), NSU (2.20%), and TGD (1.71%).
I had an order in to sell RIC @ 6.38 at the close, but it was only partially filled, so I still have an open trade.
I am holding approximately 25% cash.
